To make 7mm PRC brass, you will need:
-A 7mm PRC die set
-A tool to trim the case mouths (I use a Forster Original trimmer)
-A deburring tool (I use a RCBS Case Deburing Tool)
-An outside neck chamfering tool (I use a Sinclair Neck Chamfering Tool)
-A Lee Factory Crimp Die in 7mm PRC
1. Start by running your cases through the sizing die. If you are using new brass, you may need to run it through 2-3 times to get it to size properly.
2. Trim the case mouths to uniform length.
I like to trim mine so they are about .005” shorter than max SAAMI specifications. This gives me a little wiggle room for error when seating bullets and ensures that my rounds will fit in the magazine without issue.
3. Use the deburring tool to remove any sharp edges from the trimmed case mouths.
4. Use the chamfering tool to put a small bevel on the inside and outside of the case necks. This will help prevent bullet set back and ensure that your rounds will chamber smoothly.
- Start with clean, empty brass cases
- If you are using new brass, skip to step 4
- Resize the brass cases using a 7mm PRC die set
- Trim the brass cases to length, if necessary
- New brass is typically already trimmed to the correct length
- Prime the brass cases using a small primer pocket reamer or a sharp knife
- Be careful not to over-prime the case or damage the primer pocket in any way
- Charge the brass case with powder using a reloading scale and funnel system designed for precision measuring
